Senior Account Manager

Location: Chicago, IL or Grand Rapids, MI

We are seeking a strategic Senior Account Manager who will be responsible for leading the day-to-day management of a portfolio of accounts with oversight from an Account Supervisor/Account Director and/or VP, Client Services. This all-star position builds meaningful relationships with clients and facilitates seamless project management from inception to completion internally at the agency, approaches complex challenges with a proactive attitude and fosters a collaborative personality. Ideal candidates are always looking for their better and never satisfied with status quo.

The Senior Account Manager reports to the VP, Client Services.


  • Strategic account development and organic growth of client(s). Manages the client relationship, seeks opportunities to help build their brand
  • Proactively learns our client’s business and competitive landscape
  • Provides great client service by managing expectations, identifying opportunities, building value and the ability to effectively communicate clear direction
  • Receives project input from client, develops a top-notch creative brief that’s going to move the needle, and kicks off projects with internal teams
  • Be the brand steward that will scrutinize and proofread all deliverables before delivery and production
  • Handles paperwork and maintains digital files on all client activities, their competitors and their industries; maintains client correspondence file, approvals, copy, for daily processing and tracking of account service work
  • Ensures all deliverables have been provided to client or vendor accurately, on-time and within budget
  • Assists with client billing and reporting
  • Documents project post mortems/debriefs
  • Participates in the development of SOW’s and any client facing documentation
  • Provides ongoing strategy and idea generation for accounts
  • Participates in agency new business efforts

  • Bachelor’s Degree (Marketing or Business) from an accredited college or university
  • Minimum 5-7 years experience working in an advertising or marketing agency in supervised account group capacities (i.e., experience writing proposals, managing projects, etc.) with a proven track record of success
  • Strong oral and written communication skills
